Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how cliptide (“cliptide”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website, applications, and related services (the “Service”). It is written to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), among other applicable laws.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data: (a) account information managed through our authentication partner Clerk, such as your name, email address, and profile image; (b) billing information processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record (we do not store card numbers); (c) content you submit, including YouTube URLs and any settings you choose; (d) processed video outputs (clips) stored in Cloudflare R2; (e) usage logs such as IP address, browser type, feature usage, and job status events; and (f) cookies and similar technologies used to keep you signed in and to measure usage.

2. How We Use Data

We use your data to provide and operate the Service, authenticate you, generate clips from the videos you submit, process payments, respond to support requests, detect abuse, comply with legal obligations, and improve product quality. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your User Content to train third-party foundation models.

3. Lawful Basis (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA or the UK, we process your data under the following bases: performance of a contract (to deliver the Service you signed up for), legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), consent (for optional cookies and marketing communications), and legal obligation (for tax, accounting, and compliance records).

4. Third Parties and Sub-processors

We share data only with vendors who help us operate the Service, under contract and bound to confidentiality. These include: Clerk (authentication), Paddle (payments, invoicing, tax), Cloudflare R2 (clip storage and CDN), Google Gemini API (AI transcription and clip selection), Railway (application hosting and GPU workers), and Vercel (frontend hosting). Each of these vendors processes only the data necessary to perform its function.

5. Data Retention

Generated clips are automatically deleted from our storage 30 days after generation. Job metadata and usage logs are retained for up to 12 months for support, abuse prevention, and audit purposes. Account data is retained for the life of your account and deleted within 30 days of account deletion, unless we are required to retain it longer for legal or accounting reasons.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to request deletion, to receive a portable copy, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have rights under CCPA including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to non-discrimination. To exercise any of these rights, email support@cliptide.app.

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and secure, and analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will break core functionality such as authentication.

8. International Transfers

cliptide is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US and other countries where our sub-processors operate. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards for such transfers.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for stored clips, scoped access credentials, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you through the Service or by email before the changes take effect.

12. Contact
